The House of Braganza

The Guesthouse

Our red front door and thatch roof
Upstairs private guest entry

The House of Braganza offers guests a home away from home. It is perfect for everyone. We pride ourselves on a warm and inviting atmosphere. We want our guests to feel like royalty while staying at the House of Braganza.

The interior of the guest unit is warm, homely and comfortable with beautiful views all around. Each room has a view of the Atlantic ocean. Lie in bed with a good book or simply lie and watch the ocean, there is no better way to relax. Unwind in a spa bath after a day out or enjoy a shower with a sea view.

We have recently converted our guesthouse kitchenette so that guests can easily cater for themselves. Our kitchenette has a microwave, a convection oven with two hotplates, small fridge, toaster and a kettle in our new coffee nook. We also have a private outside braai (barbeque) area.

Parking is available on the property, behind a security gate. Our guests have their own private entrance. We offer a small selection of cold beverages, included in the quote. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and home baked rusks are always available. On request we serve a Full English/Continental Breakfast. Small lunches as well as homemade cooked meals can be ordered from us, should you wish to relax at home.

We have a pool and an outside shower with hot/cold water to warm up after your day at the beach.

Winter is not our peak season but our winter season is very beautiful. Our improved WiFi, coffee nook, blankets and small library with a nice selection of books makes the winter days better.

Kommetjie

We are located in Kommetjie, 100 m from Long Beach. Kommetjie is a peaceful seaside village perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a relaxing holiday. Although it feels like you are hundreds of kilometres away from the city we are located near many famous attractions; Cape of Good Hope (Cape Point), Boulders Beach and Chapman’s Peak. As well as many popular local spots that I’d be happy to share with you.

Kommetjie is a surfer’s paradise all year round, Long beach is a quick run from our house. Tip for surfers: Book the beach room to check the surf from your bed, with a view of one of the most popular surf spots in Kommetjie.

You can order a picnic basket from me to enjoy on the beach or take with you when exploring our Valley and surrounding areas.

We’ve got two bicycles to explore Kommetjie with, while exercising.

There are a few options of scenic drives and hikes from and around Kommetjie, coastal travel towards Scharborough and Cape Point, Noordhoek and Chapman’s Peak, Ou Kaaps Mountain Pass towards Silvermine, Fish Hoek to Kalk Bay or Glen Cairn to Simonstown. I’ve got a guest file with more detailed information.

Henobi Pretorius (Owner)

Hospitality is a passion to me and I love what I am doing. To me it is not a job, it is a way of living and it gives me huge amounts of energy. I am involved in every aspect of preparation for my guests and I truly enjoy it. I do the cooking for our guests and mostly everything I serve is homemade. I appreciate ideas and inputs from our guests, which often triggers my creative thinking. I can’t begin to describe how happy it makes me feel to know that my guests are happy and content.

Traveling sits in my being and I dearly love South Africa. My best way of relaxing is to get into a car and to explore new places. I get very excited when our guests ask for information or on helping them plan a trip. A few of my other passions in life are my family, our animals, my friends, South Africa, spending time outdoors in nature, creating, whether with paint on a canvas, in the garden, through a meal or home baked goods. I enjoy my own company but at the same time I enjoy being with my friends and loved ones so much and to entertain and spoil them. I appreciate feeling connected to people and sharing meaningful conversations.

I crave listening to or reading about positive life changing stories and experiences of fellow human beings. I get inspired when listening to humble success stories, which was accomplished through hard work, persistence and following one’s passion.

Empowerment of the less privileged is very close to my heart and it is a big dream of mine to be in a position to create jobs to as many people as possible. I appreciate and hold on to all the beauty and positivity life’s got to offer us.
